Its story began in 1754 with the dream of a Bristol wine merchant who left a legacy to build a bridge over the Gorge.

We stayed at the Travelodge Hotel nearby, here are some of the photos before we checked out.

Information on the bridge can be found here.
From wikipedia, "The Severn Bridge (Welsh: Pont Hafren) is a suspension bridge spanning the River Severn between South Gloucestershire, just north of Bristol, England, and Monmouthshire in South Wales, via Beachley, a peninsula between the Severn and Wye estuaries. It is the original Severn road crossing between England and Wales and took five years to construct at a cost of £8 million.[1] It replaced the Aust ferry. The bridge was opened on 8 September 1966 by Queen Elizabeth II, who hailed it as the dawn of a new economic era for South Wales. The bridge was granted Grade I listed status in 1998."

:: Bowness-on-Windermere ::

Info on Bowness. More info.

Finally, we had the chance to take the lake cruise from Bowness.

Our Red Cruise trip was from Bowness to Ambleside or Vice Versa.
some info on the trip :
The round trip from Bowness can be taken as a 70 minute non-landing cruise.
Alternatively you may disembark at either Ambleside or Bowness returning on a later boat.

:: Bridge House, Ambleside ::

Bridge House, a tiny stone-built house straddling Stock Beck* in Ambleside, is one of the Lake District's best known landmarks, at least in part because it stands directly by the main A591 road along which most visitors to the Lakes will travel at least once during their stay.

:: The Lakes Aquarium, Lake Windermere ::

At first, our original plan was to take the lake cruise, however, as the place was on flood, all of the boats and trains were not available. The only option that we had was headed to the aquarium. Hmmm..
Check the url here.

Welcome To Windermere

England's largest and arguably, prettiest lake, more than ten miles long, and at it's deepest 220ft (65m) is situated in beautiful countryside at the southern end of The Lake District. Many of the best loved mountains are visible from the lake and it' s shores.

The town of Windermere in Cumbria, England is situated in The Lake District National Park ands lies 1 kilometer from Lake Windermere, the town itself dosn't touch the lake, and is sometimes confused with the older town of Bowness On Windermere, over the years both towns have grown in population and are sometimes mistaken as one.

It was raining all day..even some parts of Cumbria were flooded. In fact, the Britain's toughest marathon event, the Original Mountain Marathon, was abandoned that day due to the weather. The annual marathon was abondoned for the first time since it was organised for 41 years! The weather must be that bad. Read more here. The only place that we went was the swimming pool... the kids enjoyed themselves and the rest of the day was filled with eating and watching tv....yeahhh what a holiday.

Couple dynamics is given a whole new meaning in vice Versa. Things get interesting when the men get together..but that's nothing compared to when the ladies start talking when they meet. :: Ayat-ayat Cinta - Indonesian Movie ::

A few friends of mine (Sadry and Shu) recommended this movie and as usual I havent got time to watch it yet. If you wanna try, check this out. Perhaps you can let me know whats the best part of this movie.
Taken from Wikipedia :)

Ayat-Ayat Cinta (literally meaning The Verses of Love) is an Indonesian film by Hanung Bramantyo starred by Fedi Nuril, Rianti Cartwright, Carissa Putri, Zaskia Adya Mecca, and Melanie Putria. Ayat-Ayat Cinta is a religious film which is based by best-selling novel with the same title by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The story is actually based in Cairo, Egypt, but instead of shooting in Cairo, the movie was shot in India and Semarang, Indonesia.[1] The movie was actually going to be released in 2007, but due several reasons it's delayed until February 2008.

PlotAyat Ayat Cinta is a beautifully portrayed Islamic love story – a tale of a virtuous Muslim protagonist who overcomes all obstacles of life maintaining pure ideals.

Fedi Nuril as Fahri bin Abdillah is a poor, intelligent student who wins a scholarship to complete his graduate degree at Egypt's esteemed Al Azhar University. Very disciplined and dedicated by nature, Fahri embraces his life in Cairo, completing his studies and translation of religious books with full enthusiasm, exactly according to pre-determined targets.

Only one goal is left unattempted: the pursuit of marriage.

For Fahri is innocent and pure, and doesn't believe in the concept of relationships prior to marriage. He is inarticulate and shy around women. All his life, only two women have been close to him – his mother and grandmother.

Life changes drastically in Egypt for he suddenly finds himself surrounded by four beautiful, distinctly different women.

Carissa Putri as Maria Girgis, a shy, open-minded Coptic neighbor who is attracted to the teachings of the Holy Quran, finds herself falling in love with Fahri (a fact she only reveals to her diary).

Melanie Putria as Nurul, a student at Al Azhar like Fahri, is the Muslim daughter of a renowned Indonesian cleric. Fahri feels unworthy of her and thus ignores his feelings for her, leaving her confused and guessing.

Zaskia Adya Mecca as Noura, an abused Egyptian neighbor, develops strong romantic feelings for Fahri, who in turn simply sympathizes with her situation. His romantic rejection destroys her and eventually leads to a false accusation of rape.

Rianti Cartwright as Aisha, a German Turkish student in Cairo haunts Fahri with her beautiful eyes. Following an incident on the metro where Fahri defends her against narrow minded bigoted Muslims, both immediately develop feelings for each other.

As the story unravels, the protagonist makes the audience face the daunting decisions he himself faces, and forces us to marvel at his undying loyalty to the true ideals of Islam as he ultimately makes the choice of a lifetime.
